A Shabbos to Remember: Rambam’s Hotel-ATon at Colbeh This past Shabbos, Rambam students gathered at Colbeh for the Rambam Hotel-A-Ton, an immersive, uplifting, and unforgettable Shabbos experience filled with Torah, unity, and non-stop programming. The event kicked off with a spirited Kabbalat Shabbat led by Ephraim Twersky, setting the tone for an evening of ruach and connection. Assistant Principal Rabbi Avrum Haar spoke about the theme of the Hotel-A-Ton: “Appreciation.” Throughout the Shabbas students were asked to reflect on the true significance of the word. Following the davening, students enjoyed divrei Torah, heartfelt singing, and meaningful conversations, with Rebbeim chaburot running well into the evening. One of the highlights of the weekend was the Giant Jenga Tournament, which drew spectators and participants alike in a surprisingly intense, and hilarious, competition. The hotel was buzzing with excitement as towers wobbled and cheers erupted. The highly coveted Giant Jenga plaques went to freshmen Andrew Friedman and Dovid Schimmel. Seniors Elan Klein and Jacob Gordon hosted two crowdfavorite competitions over the course of the Shabbos: “How Well Do You Know Your Rebbe?” a shiur-based challenge that tested just how closely students listen in class followed by a fast-paced gradevs.-grade trivia showdown that kept everyone on their toes After midnight, students gathered for the Senior Panel, hosted by Dr. Hillel Goldman, where Rabbi Zev Cinamon, Rabbi Ilan Schimmel, and Rabbi Yitz Milworn answered the seniors tough and poignant questions as the seniors get closer to embarking on their year in Israel or College.. The next day featured the Drasha from Rabbi Zev Meir Friedman, Rosh HaYeshiva, and an inspiring Siyum Mishnayos by Rabbi Dr. Andrew Sicklick, adding a beautiful layer of Torah accomplishment to the program. Throughout the day, students took advantage of open time for board games, zemirot, and more divrei Torah, building camaraderie and creating memories. The davening continued to rock with senior Shaya Lubner and sophomore Ephraim Ganchrow leading the way. Frosh Mesivta, Rabbi Avi Herschman was also a powerful presence, speaking to students in a candid manner about the issues of the day as Shabbos ebbed away. The spirit of Shabbos culminated in a powerful Havdalah led by Shachar Klein, whose voice and leadership brought the entire group together in a moving close to an unforgettable weekend. A special thanks goes to Aidan Mayer and Avi Lax, who served as Gabbaim, helping ensure smooth tefillot and transitions throughout Shabbos. And of course, an enormous hakarat hatov to Rabbi Yitz Milworn, Director of Student Activities, whose hard work and vision made the entire Hotel-A-Ton possible. His dedication to creating meaningful experiences for Rambam students continues to elevate the school community. From laughter to learning, competition to connection, this year’s Hotel-A-Ton was truly one for the books Another W for Rambam Debate Last Wednesday night, the Rhetoric Ravens debated in both Public Forum and Lincoln Douglas Debate, with this competition being the accumulation of weeks of research. In Public Forum they discussed government access to encrypted information, doing heavy preparation about backdoors, privacy, and government trust. In Lincoln Douglas, they examined rewilding and its relation to the environment as well as anthropocentrism. Congratulations to Yoni Pfeifer(12th grade) who went 2-0 in LD!
