Andrew Sicklick’s Parsha Yomi program concluded its first year with a meaningful award ceremony. Rabbi Sicklick presented authentic Rambam plaques to students who participated in the program and scored high marks on his weekly quizzes. The talmidim spent the year learning the Parsha each week with Meforshim and listened to Rabbi Sicklick’s Parsha summaries. On Fridays they would meet for quizzes and a shiur and delicious snacks. After the results were tallied, some students earned plaques while others earned plaques and Sevorim, and some even earned plaques, Sevorim, and sweatshirts! The Parsha Yomi crew is already looking forward to next year and gives a special thank you to Rabbi Sicklick for all his hard work! 11th Annual Rambam Ultimate Frisbee Tournament “Rains” Supreme! Despite the steady downpour, not even the elements could stop the 11th Annual Rambam Ultimate Frisbee Tournament of Champions! As always, the tournament began with the “Make Your Own Jersey” Contest. There were many worthy contenders included (past winner) Shaya Lubner, Ephraim Ganchrow, Bernie Wiener, and Shachar Klein just to name a few. In the end, Noach Wiener, for his DJ inspired t-shirt, was the winner. After thanking Bernie Weiner, Reb Yitz Milworn, and Dr. Goldman for their help in making the Tournament happen, the rules were explained and the competition commenced. The Spin Doctors seemed to be the early favorites while the Disc Jockeys showed early promise as well. The UFOs and the Ultimate Warriors also showed their skills and looked poised for long playoff runs. Not to be outdone, however, the Frisbeasts looked good too, but Dragon Army, led by a determined Yosef Bruckenstein finished the regular season with the best record. After a grueling playoffs and championship, Dragon Army emerged victorious and Tournament MVP, Yosef Bruckenstein, won for his fourth year in a row!
