The legacy goes on!!! Today, May 1st, 2026, sadly marks the end of the historic Sephardic minyan. Unstarted a few years ago by alumnus Shlomo Inoyatov (Class of 2024), the minyan, run by Gabbay Rishon Mark Khaimov and Gabbay Sheni Yehuda Gol, was an incredible success this year. Attendance brought together students from all Sephardic backgrounds, as well as a diverse group from across the student body.

The Sephardic minyan carried a rich heritage, davening exclusively in nusach Edot HaMizrach. Even though it only met on Sundays, Mondays, Fridays, and some Wednesdays, the minyan made the most of its time throughout the year. A special shoutout goes to Dr. Goldman for making a guest appearance “for old times’ sake.” The final day was celebrated with well-deserved donuts and munchkins, and for the chalav yisrael crowd, cookies.

The atmosphere was incredible. With Dr. Goldman present, Chazzan and Ba’al Koreh Yehuda Gol and Chazzan Mark Khaimov led tefillah with immense kavanah and powerful singing. Congratulations as well to Yehuda and Mark for receiving leadership awards in recognition of their outstanding dedication throughout the year. On behalf of the Class of 2026, the Sephardic minyan will truly be missed.

At the same time, the Sephardic minyan is proud to announce its next chapter, with Adam Kaykov stepping in as the new Gabbai and Aaron Pinchasov as the new Gabbai Sheni, in recognition of their incredible dedication. Baruch Hashem, may the Sefardi miyan continue to thrive in the values of commitment and dedication to tefillah. Behatzlacha!
