The winner of the highest individual score was none other than Dovi Stark from the 10th grade (Pictured Right) with an impressive 164. The tournament ran from morning through the afternoon, and from the first whistle, the energy was there, as the schools battled it out on two magnificent full-length turf fields. Rambam opened with a thriller against Flatbush. It was a back-andforth fight that stayed tight the entire game and eventually went to penalties. With a clutch hat trick from Captain Shaya Lubner, Rambam pulled through dramatically with only a few seconds left in the regulation to tie it up. The game then went into penalty kicks where five players per team took turns shooting it out. It was so close that it took 8 players per team to determine a winner with freshman Etai Meir making the winning penalty shot to give Rambam the 4-3 win! Despite valiant efforts from Rambam the rest of the day, the championship game was between undefeated North Shore and a well-coached SAR squad. North Shore ultimately took home the title after an impressive run, but Rambam showed serious grit and fire throughout the day, competing at a high level in every matchup. To cap it all off, each team earned an All-Star award, shoutout to Shai Lubner from Rambam, and all players walked away with duffel bags Long Island Cup swag while the top teams earned medals and school trophies. Special thanks also needs to go out to Rambam’s Aaron Friedman, Director of Operations as well as to all the Coaches and Athletic Directors who made this happen: Rambam Coach Zach Stern and Athletic Director Jeff Bieder; SAR Coach Jason Shela and Athletic Director Lee Joffe; Flatbush Coach Andre Duncan and Athletic Director Adam Ginsberg; and North Shore Coach Chris Corey and Athletic Director Shalom Babayev. There is already talk about expanding the tournament next year!
