Adar is truly a wonderful and joyous time, filled with “ונהפוך הוא ” ” . To celebrate, this week at Rambam, we had our very own Shtick Week! On Wednesday, students arrived at school eager to begin learning after many days spent snowed in. Starting after shiur, the celebrations kicked off with Pajama Day. From all sorts of wacky outfits, such as blanket coats and pajama pants, the halls were filled with fun and spirited energy. The next day was “Anything But a Backpack Day,” held in conjunction with Jersey Day. Wearing their favorite jerseys, students brought in their wacky “bags,” including vacuums, coolers, cabinets, garbage cans, birdcages, and even a brick of ice! Every year, the big “Anything But a Backpack Walk-Off” takes place at midday, when students strut down the hallway runway to show off whatever creative contraption they are using to carry their books. This year, our winner was David Bondar (12th) with the vacuum, with honorable mentions to Yaakov Moskowitz (10th) with a mini fridge and Jasper Obstfeld (9th) with a hot water urn. The entries were truly incredible, and we cannot wait to see even more creativity and ruach in the years to come. The week concluded with Hot Cocoa Day! Students were treated to steaming hot cocoa, chocolate milk, and marshmallows, getting everyone warmed up and ready for the sweet, delicious excitement of Purim. Yosef Harris (Senior) 2nd Annual Rambam Pickleball Classic Tournament! Twenty-four students returned to West Hempstead’s Pickleball Plus, the Madison Square Garden of Pickleball, for Year II of the Rambam Pickleball Classic! From freshmen to seniors, to faculty, including Reb Yitz and Dr. Goldman, students competed in 5 rounds of regular season play before hitting the playoff matches. The action was fierce with several upsets early on, but in the end, it was a senior showdown with Ephraim Twersky and Gabe Weiss facing down fellow seniors Ethan Farber and Jacob Gordon. While Twersky and Weiss put up a valiant effort, there was no stopping an acrobatic Ethan and the backstop of Gordon! Even though Pickleball is a sport that has come to relatively new prominence, the Rambam Pickleball Classic is already becoming a Rambam institution. Special thank you to Director of Student Activities, Reb Yitz Milworn, for making this tournament happen! Another win for the Debate Team: February Model Congress!
