The 6th Annual Rambam World Cup Tournament was an unforgettable day of competition, energy, and school spirit, as six teams battled it out on two turf fields in fastpaced 5v5 soccer action. The tournament featured nonstop excitement, culminating in a dramatic playoff round in which both semifinal matches were decided by penalty shootouts. With tension high and crowds gathered around the goals, the shootouts determined who would advance to the championship match. In the final, the Blue Team, led by tournament MVP senior Ethan Farber, rose to the occasion and captured the gold with a hard-fought victory over Team Grey, captained by senior Jesse Davis. In addition to the main tournament, a separate soccer Shootout Competition added even more excitement. Junior Jacob Kalantarov claimed first place, with Junior Joshua Rackman finishing as runnerup, showcasing impressive composure and precision under pressure. In net were senior goalkeepers, Jacob Gordon and Noam Leban, who deserve special shoutouts for taking the hits during the shootout! A special thank you goes to Senior Shaya Lubner; Director of Student Activities Reb Yitz Milworn; and Principal Dr. Hillel Goldman for their leadership and dedication in making the tournament such a success. Their efforts ensured a well-run event that brought students together in the spirit of healthy competition and Rambam pride. Writers’ Guild Explores “An Alien Perspective” Over 25 students gathered for the latest meeting of the Writers’ Guild, hosted by senior Rafi Taubenfeld and junior Bezalel Graber. Carlos and Gabby’s food took center stage as an evening of creative writing, discussion, and lively storytelling filled the air. The featured prompt, “An Alien Perspective,” challenged students to imagine the arrival of aliens on Earth and to write the experience entirely from their point of view. The results were imaginative, sharp, and often surprising. Writers explored how outsiders might interpret human behavior, culture, and contradictions, producing stories that ranged from thoughtful and humorous to pointedly satirical. One of the evening’s highlights was a standout piece by Judge Ronald Goldman, which sparked discussion and set a high bar for the night’s submissions. Also drawing significant attention were the intentionally provocative “rage bait” stories by junior Gavriel Ovits and senior Avi Lax, which generated strong reactions and thoughtful debate among the group. As well as plenty of rage. Momentum is already building for the next prompt, “The Traveler,” which has begun creating buzz even before pens hit paper. In addition, the Guild is excited to announce that the “Edgar Allan Prose” will be published soon, marking another milestone for the group’s growing body of work. With strong attendance, energetic discussion, and ambitious writing, the Writers’ Guild continues to establish itself as a creative hub for student voices.
