Ambassador Friedman was the ambassador under the first Trump administration. The ambassador, who was brought in at the behest of Rosh Yeshiva Rabbi Zev Meir Friedman, talked to the students about his views on how we should be proceeding in the war in and future challenges regarding Israel. Ambassador Friedman had a big role in the Abraham Accords and the moving of the US Embassy to Jerusalem. Since the war broke out on October 7th, many people have found different ways to cope and focus their feelings for Israel. Some have gone to Israel to help, some have made donations, some spread stories of the war, and some wrote books. Ambassador Friedman wrote a book called One Jewish State. The book focuses on many different things including the fact that there are dozens of Christian states and dozens of Muslim states and only one Jewish one. Even though there is only one Jewish State, that is where the most conflict arises and why the continuing of Israel’s success is so crucial to the future of the Jewish people and Western values. Ambassador Friedman came in and signed about 200 copies of his new book for every student and faculty member of Rambam to take home. Following his presentation there was a question and answer session where the ambassador fielded questions on topics ranging from the war in Ukraine; what students going to Israel should focus on; and what is in store for the political future of the ambassador himself. We thank Ambassador Friedman for coming in and hope for him to come back in the future.
